MARSHFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- Marshfield Police Chief Joe Stroik says investigators have traced a string of sexually explicit phone calls that involved Halloween costumes and children to a 32-year-old Marshfield man.
Stroik says police are recommending the man be charged with 19 misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a telephone.
According to Stroik, the man called several Marshfield homes in the five days before Halloween and said he was from a church youth group that donated costumes to children. He then described in detail sexual acts with children.
Stroik says there is no evidence the man has actually done what he talked about during the calls.
Police records say the man has acknowledged making the calls.
