GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A judge has denied Reynold Moore's request for a new trial in the 1992 killing of Tom Monfils, whose body was found in a pulp vat at a Green Bay paper mill.
Moore was one of five men convicted in the killing of their co-worker. Prosecutors said the defendants suspected Monfils of telling police about a plan to steal electrical cord from the mill.
With help from the Wisconsin Innocence Project, Moore moved for a new trial. His attorneys said jailhouse informant James Gilliam, who testified against Moore at his 1995 trial, recanted his story. But Gilliam recently changed his story again. In a ruling Wednesday, Judge James Bayorgeon questioned his credibility.
Moore attorney Byron Lichstein says he's disappointed but that it's too early to know if there will be an appeal.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Innocence Project is seeking a new trial for a man convicted of killing a man in a Green Bay paper mill 17 years ago.
The Innocence Project says a witness against 62-year-old Reynold C. Moore has since recanted his testimony.
A hearing on the group's request is set for Tuesday.
Moore was one of six men convicted in 1995 of being party to first-degree intentional homicide.
The victim was 35-year-old Tom Monfils. His body was found at the bottom of a paper-pulp vat at the then-James River plant in 1992. A weight was tied around his neck.
Prosecutors say he was killed after telling police one of the six men planned to steal an extension cord.
The six were convicted, although one man's conviction has been overturned.
