MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Federal authorities found a fugitive in a massive Wisconsin cocaine case after he was sentenced to prison in Florida under a false name.
Federal prosecutors in Wisconsin charged Martin Pineda Pineda in 2008 with conspiracy to deliver cocaine and distributing cocaine. They allege Pineda Pineda was part of a Watertown cocaine ring.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Connell says Pineda Pineda fled to Florida under the name Magin Avila-Avellaneda. Federal prosecutors in Tampa charged him in February with a separate conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
He was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison in September. Connell says as U.S. marshals processed him before taking him to prison they matched his fingerprints to Pineda Pineda.
Pineda Pineda's attorney didn't immediately return a message.
