Mom & Baby Yoga

Location: Meriter Business Center, 2650 Novation Pkwy, Madison
An interactive mom and baby class where baby is incorporated into yoga poses. Mom will experience gentle strengthening, stretching, and bonding with her baby. No experience necessary. Please bring a blanket or yoga mat. Babies are welcome to nurse, snack, nap or play with toys. Babies up to 1 year of age are welcome.

Cost: $60/6-week program (includes Mom and Baby)

Class is eligible for reimbursement through Physicians Plus, Unity and GHC.

Couch to 5k Running Club Session 2

Outside of Meriter Hospital - near the corner of Brooks and Mounds Streets
Have you ever thought of running a 5K but don’t know how to train for it? Meriter–UnityPoint Health invites you to join our Couch to 5K Running Club. The Couch to 5K is a plan developed to help beginners get into running or take your current training and enhance it.
Couch to 5K works because it starts with a mix of running and walking, to gradually build up your fitness and stamina. It creates realistic expectations and makes the challenge feel achievable right from the start.
For Session 2 there are several options:
• Couch to 5K designed for those that haven’t been running but want to start
• 5K to 10K for those that can currently run/walk 5K (3.1 miles) and want to increase their distance to a 10K (6.2 miles)
• 5K walkers we encourage anyone to join us and walk the 5K
The best part of the Meriter’s Couch to 5K program is that it is FREE! In addition, if you attend 6 of the 9 sessions you will also receive a FREE entry for the Zoo Run Run on Sunday, September 28 at 9:00 am.

Meriter's Mighty Kids Program

In an effort to encourage healthy and active lifestyles to our youth, Meriter–UnityPoint Health invites you to register your children to become Meriter Mighty Kids!
The 9 week program is FREE and meets once a week. It focuses on fun running activities that keep kids moving and prepare them for the Roo Run Run on Sunday, September 28. Kids (ages 5-14) that attend 6 of the 9 sessions will qualify for a free entry into the Roo Run Run (distances: ¼ mile, ½ mile or 1 mile).
Wear running clothes and shoes and be sure to bring a water bottle! Parents are welcome to stay and help with the activities.

EveryWoman's Journal

EveryWoman’s Journaling Workshop
Journaling is commonly used in chronic pain management, recovery programs and adult learning, but journaling can also be used as a prevention tool. Proactive health journaling helps women translate personal reflection and feedback into actions that increase well-being by becoming in tune with physical messages our body give us and by using self-care techniques.
The insights gained from proactive health journaling - combined with creative self-care techniques and awareness of local health resources - can truly improve the quality of life and health for women!
The everywoman's journal workshop will cover five areas: nourishing awareness; scattered loss, relating to life, respectful caring, and pure joy.
Participants of this 2 hour workshop will receive a specially-designed journal, guidebook, pen and health resource information.

Improve Performance, Reduce Risk of Injury - UW Health Sports Performance Training Program

According to a clinical report from the American Academy of Pediatrics neuromuscular training programs can cut the risk of a serious ACL injury and should be recommended to at-risk young athletes, especially girls.

UW Health Sports Medicine is offering a summer performance program to help 12- to 18-year-old athletes get fit for soccer, lacrosse, football and other field sports. This program helps athletes develop more power to run faster, jump higher and change directions with speed. UW Health Sports Medicine licensed athletic trainers and strength coaches will teach athletes how to change direction using proper techniques that have been proven to reduce the risk of lower-extremity injury while improving your athletic ability.

Session topics include mobility for athletes, stability and control, positioning and loading, strength and power for sports, and more.
