Arboretum Longenecker Horticultural Gardens Tour: Azaleas and Rhododendrons

UW Arboretum Visitor Center, 1207 Seminole Hwy, Madison, WI 53711 (enter Arboretum at 1207 Seminole Hwy; proceed east 1 mile to Visitor Center).
Free garden tour led by horticulturist Dr. Deborah McCown, who will discuss the care of azaleas and rhododendrons in the Madison area and show highlights of the Arboretum’s collection. Meet on the front steps of the UW Arboretum Visitor Center. Tour will last until dusk.

Salad Buffet, Bake and Plant Sale

Bristol Lutheran Church, 6835 Hwy. N, Sun Prairie
Buffet includes hot chicken casserole, salads, rolls, desserts and beverages. $8/person, $3/kids under 6. Bristol Lutheran Church is handicap accessible. Carry-out available. A donation from the profits will go to Shelter From the Storms Ministries. The church cookbook will also be for sale - over 350 recipes! This is an annual event taking place the first Saturday in May.

for graduation, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays and more.
Beautiful baskets of annuals will also be available.
Funds benefit Journey of the Heart’s summer mission trip.

Tree Sale

As part of the sale, there will be six kinds of trees offered. All are two to three year old transplants and are sold in minimum bundles of five. Trees are $1.85 each, with 10% off purchases of more than 50 trees.

Trees included in the sale are Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens glauca), Black Hills Spruce (Picea glauca ‘Densata’), Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), Eastern Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis), White Pine (Pinus strobus) and White Oak (Quercus alba).

Spring Plant Sale

Rotary Botanical Gardens' Horticulture Center, Off Palmer Drive (watch for signs), Janesville, WI
The sale will feature over 125 varieties of vegetable plants, 80 varieties of herbs, and bagged mushroom compost. In celebration of RBG’s 25th Anniversary during 2014 the sale will offer 25 varieties each of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, bell peppers and hot peppers, which will feature both unique and popular varieties. There will also be a nice selection of compact vegetable plants perfect for container planting and hundreds of perennials. A wide assortment of shrubs and small flowering trees will also be available. Vegetable and herb lists can be viewed at rotarybotanicalgardens.org.
