Press Release from the Madison Fire Department:
On Friday, June 27, 2008 at 6:42 PM, City of Madison Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 4717 Ames Street. A neighbor was going for a run when he heard his next door neighbors smoke detector sounding. He then ran to the home and found smoke coming out of some open windows and called 911.
Engine 9, Engine 7, Ladder 2, Rescue 9, Car 31, Engine 4, Ladder 1, Investigator 86 and PIO 79 were called to the scene and upon arrival, found smoke billowing out of several windows. The fire was extinguished at 6:53 PM.
Crews searched for any occupants, but found that no one was home at the time of the fire. A black lab and two cats were found safe.
Extensive fire and water damage to kitchen area, and some smoke damage throughout the home. Damage estimate is $50,0000 to the single family resident.
Fire is under investigation.
The two occupants will be staying with friends.
No injuries to report.
