The kid was serving 60 days for "BAIL JUMPING", so what part of the brain were our officials using when they thought he would abide by an ankle bracelet program? If he's going to jump bail I would think the odds that he would "jump" the monitoring might be very high. For some this program works, but a little common sense from our "officials" would be great.

Let's see some examples of the Sheriff firing people "left and right". Sheriff's employees are in a union so even if Mahoney wanted to, he couldn't. The mandate comes from Kathleen Falk, so not the Sheriff's choice either.

What is the purpose of having prisoners wear the GPS bracelet if you can't locate them and still need the community's help to find them?

I bet they catch this kid at the Poison show at Willow Island next weekend. I bet he watched "Rock of Love" while he was on home detention.

Does anyone else think it is odd the county is letting a 17 year old participate in this program? He is not even an adult! Maybe the county should review their guidelines.

someone once told me my father had something sort of like this, but his had this feature that if you tried to escape they "blow you up!"

To all what it so hard to comprehend about these bracelets? Also, how many times do people need to repeat the same thing? When I read these comments I feel as if I am reading what a mocking bird would type.

I heard the Sheriff is firing people left and right who don't buy into his agenda. Sounds like Hitler!

Perhaps if you cannot keep the tracker on your body it should be imbedded surgically in your skin that way you can't get rid of it without hurting yourself badly. These people will never obey the law.

What floors me about these fools, is the fact like this guy was only serving 60 days. I don't recall how long the other one who pulled this not too long ago was serving, I do know it wasn't that long either. I would be interested in knowing how much longer they will be in the clink when they are captured again.

The Sheriff's dept is on a mandate to release prisoners right now to reduce overcrowding and expenses. EVERY inmate is being considered for either electronic home monitoring or Huber. One inmate (connected through aquaintences) who consistently cannot abide by the law (even though in the scheme of things might appear minor to LE), has not remained OUT of jail for more than 2wks in the last year- has been requested by the DCSD to get out of confinement on the bracelet. This inmate has no place to go (ie: family does not have room)- so electronic monitoring is probably not gonna happen anyway. But what if it did? This inmate has fully demonstrated an inability to follow basic laws even when (recently) placed in transitional/supported housing (lasted about 4days before violating). Not all inmates are cannidates for Electronic monitoring. This particular person needs intensive drug rehab & mental health treatment.

He cut the bracelet off, this makes it tougher to find him, hello! This CAMP program is a joke!

Posted by: lenny Location: madison on Jul 6, 2008 at 10:01 AM
Oh yea, the Sheriff will know where all these people are all the time!!!! What a joke. I'm sure he cut the bracelet off. How hard is that to do. Things will change when one of these guys kills someone while out on the bracelet program. That's what happens when you have a Sheriff who listens to no one but the county executive and does exactly what she wants him to do. Mahoney doesn't run the Sheriff's department, Falk does. He just collects a paycheck.

I'm sure he cut if off..that's the point.

Posted by: K Location: Madison on Jul 6, 2008 at 08:43 AM
He probably cut the bracelet off.

We'll, like the others said...what happened to the GPS? What a great system...with more going on this system, won't this be an increasing problem...

Posted by: Billo Location: Madison on Jul 6, 2008 at 12:44 AM
GPS will not work if you get too far away from the base unit in the house, but will call when you exceed the limits. THen it is just a ankle bracelet.

Posted by: leah on Jul 5, 2008 at 09:44 PM
um..if he has a GPS bracelet on..shouldnt that make it easy to KNOW WHERE HE IS?

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 5, 2008 at 04:13 PM
I thought there was another guy on the bracelet not too long ago. Maybe a couple of weeks ago. I think there are making it too easy for these guys to take off.

So he's wearing a GPS ankle bracelet and they don't know where he is ? Is it just me ?
