FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) -- Eight is the lucky number for two babies born last Friday. Hailey Jo Hauer and Xander Jace Riniker were born at 8:08 a.m. on 8-8-2008, weighing eight pounds, eight ounces.

Xander was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and he's the eighth grandchild for his mother's parents. Hailey's mom thought the nurses at her Minnesota hospital were joking when they told her the time of her daughter's birth. And then she got a call from the birthing suite noting the baby's weight. Several hospital staff members pledged to buy lottery tickets.
