WATERLOO, Ind. (AP) -- Gas for nearly six bucks a gallon? Sounds pretty scary. And that's just what a gas station worker wanted. Piper Withey says she posted a price of $5.99 a gallon for regular after her station ran out of gas.

She says she wanted to scare off customers so they wouldn't waste their time pulling up to an empty pump. But she adds the phony high price caused a little more excitement at Kaghann's Korner near Waterloo, Indiana, than they had expected.

Why not just take all the prices of the sign? If you have no product to sell don't advertise it at all.

wow jim you kind of missed the story didn't you, she just put the big out door sign that has gas prices on it at $5.99 so when people saw the price while driving they'd go to a new station, because it is a ridiculous price, the price at the pump was normal, but she didn't want to waste peoples time by having them pull in to a station with no gas. She wasn't trying to take advantage of any one, and it's not illegal

Strange story. If the station "ran out of gas," then what were they trying to sell for $5.99? If they were out, the station is supposed to close and the pumps shut down? If they were close to being out, they still have to sell the gas for a price related to what they pay for it. Is this just another example of taking advantage of a gullible public?

That Zimmerman comment was uncalled for and disgusting. You need to grow up. I don't even know what to say to that other than that you are disgusting.
