UPDATES: Polar bear falls into moat while chasing toy at Milwaukee Zoo

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An adult polar bear fell into a moat around his enclosure at the Milwaukee County Zoo but was uninjured.

Zoo spokeswoman Laura Pedriani says Zero was playing with a toy yesterday when he slipped into the moat and was caught by netting.

She says zoo officials cut the netting, lowering the bear to the moat floor.

Pedriani says it's up to Zero when he climbs back up to the top of his enclosure. Pedriani says it could be hours before or days before that happens.

Pedriani says the same bear fell into the moat 15 years ago and stayed there for nine days.

She says Zero was born at the zoo and is about 19 years old.
