MPD: Suspect at large after person shot on city’s east side

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A suspect is on the run and a victim in the hospital after a person was shot outside a Madison hotel Tuesday night.

Madison police say that a call came in at 8:32 p.m. for a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn the 4800 block of Hayes Road.

Madison Police and Madison EMS conducted life saving efforts on the victim, and that person was brought to an area hospital for further advanced treatment, police said.

Police are currently looking for one suspect who ran away on foot, and a K9 was used to track the suspect Tuesday night. The Violent Crimes Unit has responded and is interviewing witnesses and collecting video evidence of the incident, according to MPD.

The condition of the person, and the circumstances of the shooting, have not been released by authorities.
