Gunman makes off with hundreds of dollars in shoes

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A robber allegedly stole hundreds of dollars worth of shoes during a hold up at a west Madison sporting goods store.

According to the Madison Police Dept., the suspect went into the Dick’s Sporting Goods store, at 237 West Towne Mall, around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday carrying a gun. The man pointed the weapon at a cashier before fleeing with the shoes.

In an update about four hours later, police said that a 30-year-old male suspect was taken into custody by the Janesville Police Department.

The police incident report did not provide a description of the suspect.

It did note that he was last seen getting into a gray sedan, which is believed to be a Ford Taurus.
