MPD responds to two reports of shots fired on Madison’s west side
Madison police say they received "many" 911 calls about the incidents
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Police Dept. is investigating two locations in the western part of the city after receiving multiple reports of gunfire in the area.
According to its incident report, the department received “many” 911 calls from people who said they heard the shots. The first calls came shortly before 12:30 p.m. and were from witnesses who told authorities they saw gunfire near Watts Rd. and Gammon Rd. before two cars raced away.
Following those first reports, MPD started receiving calls about shots being fired at the Whitney Way and Schroeder Road intersection. In that incident, witnesses stated they saw gunfire between two vehicles. Their descriptions of the cars were similar to the ones witnesses described at the first scene.
MPD has not confirmed if anyone was injured in either incident.
An MPD spokesperson said the department has detectives, officers, and specialty units investigating both locations.
