MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A would-be thief’s attempt to steal an SUV from a Madison driveway went nowhere after the suspect proved unable to navigate it around the vehicles parked around it.

According to the Madison Police Dept., five vehicles were parked in front of the home on School Road early Wednesday morning and one of them, the SUV, was unlocked with the keys still in it. Other vehicles were around it, but that didn’t dissuade the person from trying to drive it out.

In the process, four of the five vehicles, including the SUV, were damaged, MPD’s incident report detailed.

In the end, unable to get the SUV free, the suspect apparently gave up and abandoned the vehicle, leaving it running in the driveway.

MPD did not say if a suspect has been identified in the incident.

The agency did note that each of the four vehicles suffered “mild to moderate” damage.
