Windy and Cold Conditions Through Christmas Day
Temperatures will be a little milder by the weekend
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - What a difference a day makes! Wednesday morning’s temperatures were in the 40s across much of southern Wisconsin; this morning’s lows will be in the single digits in many locations. Highs today are expected in the low teens with wind chills below zero through the day.

Strong low pressure passed through the state yesterday. This low had two cold fronts associated with it and with the passage of these two fronts, wind shifted and temperatures plunged. In far southern Wisconsin, there was very precipitation seen. To the northwest, across parts of Minnesota, there were Blizzard Warnings in effect and upwards of a foot of snow was reported.

The low will continue to exit to the northeast and in its wake, strong wind and cold temperatures will hang on for a couple days. As a matter of fact, we are seeing temperatures as of 6:00 am today, running 25 to 40 degrees colder than yesterday at 6:00 am. By the holiday weekend, milder air returns and highs are expected in the low 30s both Saturday and Sunday.
