Ferguson, Sanborn and Hicks will return to Wisconsin for 2021 season
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - When the Wisconsin Badgers return to campus to prepare for spring ball in three weeks, they will not only possess momentum coming off a Duke’s Mayo Bowl win, but also key leadership on both sides of the ball.
Saturday morning, Jake Ferguson, Jack Sanborn and Faion Hicks took to twitter to announce they will be returning to Madison to play for the Badgers in 2021.
Ferguson is coming off a redshirt junior season where he led the Badgers in receptions (30) receiving yards (305) and touchdown receptions (4). The Madison Memorial product’s four touchdown receptions matched his career-high from 2018 while playing in six less games.
At 6′5″ Ferguson has both the frame and athletic ability to draw NFL interest. He established himself as a blocker early on in his career but showed flashes of his athletic ability in 2020. High pointing the ball for touchdown receptions, laying out for catches down the sideline or in his agility in yards after the catch. Ferguson has played in 34 games for the Badgers in his career.
Sanborn led the Badgers in tackles for a second straight season, while averaging a career-high 7.4 tackles per game in 2020. A stalwart middle linebacker for one of the most elite defense’s in the nation, Sanborn has proven himself as a strong tackler, talented pass rusher and good in pass coverage as well.
Faion Hicks has started 33 games for the Badgers after his redshirt junior season and stepped up as Jim Leonhard’s leader in the secondary once Rachad Wildgoose opted out of the 2020 season.
Hicks is a key return at the cornerback position while the Badgers await Caesar Williams decision and has proven himself as a leader on and off the field.
