MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Iowa County Health Department is seeking independent healthcare workers who need a COVID-19 vaccine in anticipation of increased vaccine availability.

According to a release issued by the Health Department Monday, individuals who provide direct patient service or engage in healthcare services that place them into contact with patients who may have COVID-19 are defined as Tier 1a, and are currently eligible for vaccine. Independent healthcare workers are those not employed by a facility who can vaccinate them.

“We are looking for healthcare workers who are independent and have no other way to obtain vaccine through an employer,” said Debbie Siegenthaler, Director, Iowa County Health Department.

The Health Department reminds the public that vaccines are not yet available to the general public and asks for residents’ patience as healthcare workers are vaccinated first.

If you are an independent healthcare worker interested in receiving the vaccine you can email the Iowa County Health Department at The Health Department will then follow up to verify your license or credential and gather your contact information.
