The fog is being caused by the combination of low-level moisture and a low-level inversion. An inversion is a layer of warmer air aloft and it will tend to trap the moisture near the surface. As temperatures fall during the night, water condenses out of the air and the result is fog.

This pattern is expected to continue into at least tomorrow, so I would expected fog to redevelop overnight and early tomorrow. Later in the week. we should see the pattern break as wind shifts and increases.

Temperatures will be a little cooler for the end of the week and the weekend with highs expected in the upper 20s during that period. Lows will be in the teens through the weekend but clouds will hang on through Sunday.
