Portage prison inmate accused of attacking Correctional Officer is identified
Lamar L. Anderson is accused of brutally beating Elizabeth Easton last week

PORTAGE, Wis. (WMTV) -Prison officials have identified the inmate who they say brutally beat a Correctional Sergeant at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage last Wednesday night.

27-year-old Lamar L. Anderson is accused of attacking Elizabeth Easton around 8:30 on December 30th. Department of Corrections spokesman John Beard says Anderson beat her with a “small piece of metal with a sharp point on one end. We are looking into where he got it,”
Easton suffered severe injuries to her face. She gave NBC15 News permission to share photos of the aftermath of the attack. Her eyes were swollen shut, her face was black and blue, and she had several large cuts on her forehead.
According to Beard, Anderson was in prison for multiple convictions in Milwaukee and Brown counties, including theft of moveable property and felon in possession of firearm, among others.
Beard says the DOC is referring the incident to local law enforcement. The district attorney will eventually get the case. The district attorney will then decide whether to file charges.
As far as a motive, Beard says they don’t have one at this time. “We are looking into it,” he said.
