Rock Co. residents can better access COVID-19 vaccine information on new website
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Rock County residents interested in getting their COVID-19 vaccine will be able to better sift through information through a new resource from the United Way.
United Way Blackhawk region created the website RockCountyShot.com in order to provide answers on frequently asked vaccine questions, such as where to go to get one, eligibility, cost and more.
“Health care providers and public officials are working diligently to keep our community apprised of vaccination updates, yet the sheer volume of information coming from so many different sources can make it difficult for folks to know where to begin,” said Mary Fanning-Penny, president and CEO of United Way.
The organization stated in a news release that all major health care providers in their region are participating in the website, including Mercyhealth, SSM Health and Beloit Area Community Health Center. Area-pharmacies will also be involved on the website, such as Janesville Hometown Pharmacy and national chains like CVS and Walgreens. The Rock County Health Department is also involved in the website.
Fanning-Penny pointed out that the website is funded by a $10,000 grant from the United Way’s COVID-19 Action Fund, as well as $5,000 allocated by HealthNet Rock County in order to raise awareness about how to access the COVID-19 vaccine in traditionally marginalized communities.
“RockCountyShot.com is yet another example of what we can accomplish when thoughtful, caring community members come together,” said Fanning-Penny. “United, we want to help rebuild healthy, and equitable communities.”
The website is now live.
