MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - University of Wisconsin-Madison’s health system will be able to start vaccinating all students on Monday as eligibility expands to everyone 16 and older in the state.

University Health Services (UHS) will be able to administer 1,200 vaccine doses next week to UW Madison students.

UHS has already been vaccinating some students who have pre-existing conditions. UHS is now preparing to vaccinate any campus student who signs up through their MyUHS portal.

UW spokesperson Meredith McGlone said the university is encouraging both students and staff to seek vaccination on and off campus.

“The reason for that is that the amount of vaccine supply UHS is getting each week is still fairly limited,” McGlone said. “So it’s not enough to cover everyone who’s currently eligible.”

UW Madison staff recommends students who receive the vaccine on campus or in Dane County to receive their second dose at the same location.
