BRODHEAD, Wis. (WMTV) - The City of Brodhead announced Thursday it would be holding its first festival of 2021 this June.

As part of celebrating its 75th anniversary, the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Family Fest on June 26 in Putnam Park.

The festival will have free games, live music from State Line Playboys, fireworks and more.

Organizer Michael Lowery noted the city’s Independence Day Parade, which is usually on July 4, will also be incorporated into the festival.

“Our goal is to increase participation in the parade as we celebrate America’s Birthday and honor our veterans,” said Lowery. He added, “Putnam Park will be a great spot to view the parade and we invite you to bring your lawn chairs and blankets as food vendors will be serving great items for your picnic lunch in Brodhead’s Putnam Park.”

The parade will start at 11 a.m. at the Brodhead Police Station and run along West 3rd Avenue, pass Putnam Park and end at Legion Park. Organizers say the Brodhead Cardinal High School and Middle School bands will perform in the parade.

“Community is important to Brodhead and Family Fest gives us the opportunity to celebrate who we are,” Lowery said. “Please join us as we create new memories and remember those from our childhood.”

Live music will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a salute to veterans at 8:30 p.m. and fireworks at dark.
