BARABOO, Wis. (WMTV) - Rescue teams located the body of a woman inside a Baraboo home following a late-night fire that tore through the duplex.

Her body was found after members of the Madison’s Heavy Urban Rescue team spent approximately two hours Monday morning reinforcing the structure to allow firefighters and investigators to enter safely.

A man, a woman, and another pet had escaped the burning home Sunday night, the Baraboo Police Department had previously indicated.

Emergency crews responded to the duplex, in the 500 block of 4th Street, around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. The fire ended up causing severe structural damage to the building, requiring the rescue team to join firefighters Monday to fortify the homes, so investigators could go in.

The state Fire Marshall’s Office has joined the investigation into the cause of the fire, which remains ongoing.

The deceased woman’s name was not released.
