MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The season continues for Wisconsin softball, when the team heard their named called during the NCAA Softball Selection Show.

The Badgers will face Georgia Tech in the Gainesville Regional on Friday at 1 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

This will be Wisconsin’s ninth appearance in the NCAA tournament, and the sixth time under head coach Yvette Healy.

“Going into the day I felt great,” Healy said. “The wins that we put together, beating Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament, we felt very good. But when you are in that room waiting for your name to come up and it doesn’t, and you have to wait until the end, it’s something. There were a lot of tears shed when Wisconsin came up on the screen.”

The Badgers last played in Gainesville in 2002 at the Gator Invitational, where they finished 3-2, picking up a pair of wins against Stanford and Maine, while dropping two to Florida.

Seven Big Ten Teams made the NCAA Tournament, matching the league’s best showing at the tournament.
