PLATTEVILLE Twp. Wis. (WMTV) – A Grant Co. home was badly damaged when a vehicle crashed into it after an allegedly intoxicated driver went off the road and struck both it and a mailbox, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office indicated a Long Grove, Illinois, man was heading west on Co. Road B around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday when he missed the bend in the road. His SUV went off the road where it hit the mailbox first and then the home.

The suspect’s 2017 Jeep Cherokee also suffered significant damage in the crash, the report continued, but he refused medical attention at the scene.

Deputies determined the 62-year-old man had been under the influence at the time of the crash. He was cited for a first-offense operating while intoxicated and taken into custody, the Sheriff’s Office’s statement noted.
