MINERAL POINT, Wis. (WMTV) - Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts is upping the ante on artful outlets this summer.

For summer 2023, Shake Rag Alley is offering youth program classes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through August for expanded age ranges, with five-day summer camps.

“I hope that people get a sense of how magical this place is, there’s magic in the classes, there’s a community of creatives and artists that we hope to create in every workshop,” said Christina Kubasta, director of education at Shake Rag Alley.

Classes include a wide array of arts and crafts from soap carving to felted bowl letterboxing and more. In addition to classes for K-2 and Grades 3-6, teens and young adults can explore classes with Mineral Point artists in abstract painting.

“One of the really cool things about the summer camp classes is that we’ve got artists and educators and artist-educators in the classes and it’s really a great opportunity for them to do something that might not be a apart of a regular school curriculum,” Kubasta. “Because we’re on this beautiful campus, students can make a craft, often a rustic or nature-inspired crafts or working with found materials.”

Classes and camps run either 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will be focused on a fun and educational craft, with time for exploring and a simple snack according to the nonprofit school of arts and crafts.
