Jocko is back!
After working at NBC15 from 2005-07 as Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter, Mike "Jocko" Jacques returns home to be Sports Director.
Jacques brings 15-plus years of college, high school, and pro sports reporting talent to NBC15, most recently serving as a reporter for the University of Wisconsin Badger Sports Report, featured on affiliates across Wisconsin.
"Jocko", who is originally from Greendale, WI, served as Sports Director at KHBS/KHOG in Arkansas from 2011-14, where he won the AP Award for Best Sportscast in the state, and before that he worked at our sister station in Wausau, as Sports Director at WSAW-TV where he became an award-winning journalist for his work on "The Highlight Zone," a Friday night high school sports program. Jacques was also nominated for an Emmy for his coverage of one of Brett Favre’s numerous retirements.
“Jocko” has also anchored and reported sports for stations in Milwaukee and Eau Claire.
“I have covered teams in National Championship games, Bowl Games, the NFC Championship, and numerous high school state champions in my career”
Jacques said and later added “but to me showing viewers the passion and compassion of local teams and their fans is the reason I love what I do.
I also like to have a little bit of fun at the anchor desk and in the field.”
Jacques is a graduate from the University of Phoenix where he received his Master's degree in Business Administration, while previously he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Mike loves to spend time on the golf course, but most of his free time is spent with his wife, Carol, and their three children, Elizabeth, Luke, and Noah.
