Brittney Ermon grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and that is where she fell in love with journalism.

She found her desire to tell stories as she anchored and reported for the daily Viking Television newscast in high school.

She went on to further her education by attending the David Letterman School of Journalism at Ball State University. She triple majored in telecommunications, journalism and Spanish. Brittney worked as a reporter and anchor for the award-winning, student-run newscast NewsLink Indiana. She was the news director for the college radio station, WCRD.

She has been recognized by the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB) and the Indiana Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for her news reporting and anchoring.

Brittney decided to continue her education at Ball State by pursuing a Master’s in journalism. She was a graduate assistant for the Journalism Writing Center and continued to work for student media until graduation. Additionally, she wrote a master’s thesis that analyzed the public’s perception of news believability between local and national outlets.

She is always eager to improve and learn more. Brittney attended the National Press Photographers Association Workshop (NPPA) to better her storytelling and shooting skills. She interned for WISH-TV in Indianapolis to enhance her reporting and journalistic abilities. She studied abroad in Segovia, Spain, in 2016 to enhance her Spanish-speaking skills and immerse herself in a different culture. She plans to use these skills throughout her journalism career to cover a variety of stories from different cultural backgrounds. She never wanted a language barrier to be the reason why she couldn’t share someone’s story.

If Brittney isn’t in the newsroom, you can find her watching a movie, reading a book, exploring a shopping center or restaurant, or looking for the latest candle in Bath and Body Works. She loves meeting new people, so if you want to say hi or if you have a candle suggestion, feel free to email her at

Brittney is thrilled to join the NBC15 team as a bilingual reporter and can’t wait to start sharing stories about people in the community.
