Fall in Love with Fall Decorating Ideas

Sponsored - It’s time to infuse some beautiful fall color into your home decor. It’s the perfect time of year to bring some of the beauty of the outdoors inside with vibrant shades of orange, gold, red and even a pop of teal. One great place to start decorating is the hub of the home, the kitchen.
“One of our really popular and fun ideas for fall is to embellish tea towels for the season,” said Kim Zajicek, owner Mill House Quilts in Waunakee. “We carry a full line of tea towels and patterns that are especially designed to be used with these tea towels. There are so many patterns to choose from, pumpkins, chickens, turkeys, and all sorts of beautiful fall fabrics.”

A splash of vibrant color from beautiful fabric or touch of whimsy in a plucky turkey towel in the kitchen can be a simple way to kick start your fall decorating. Even a simple fabric table runner can add color and help bring your kitchen decor together. If your color scheme doesn’t work with the traditional vibrant fall color palette think neutrals with fun patterns instead. And, doing it yourself has never been more popular as the DIY trend continues to grow in popularity.

Another great place to start your fall decor is right at the front door, to welcome visitors and set the tone for the season with inspirational words like Thankful, Blessed, Harvest or Welcome.

“One idea we have that’s pretty simple, beginner friendly, is a beautiful fall banner,” Zajicek said. “The banner is a panel that we added batting in between and a backing, sewing around it and enveloping it. Then you just turn it right side out, do a little stitching around the edges and you have a beautiful fall harvest banner.”

It’s exactly the type of project that has eager DIYers and crafters signing up to learn more about sewing.

“We have lots of classes from beginner friendly to advanced courses,” Zajicek said. “Our website at MillHouseQuilts.com has a listing of all the classes and you can sign up online.”

If you just need a little inspiration to get your creative energy flowing, there is no better outing than strolling the aisles of fabric at Mill House Quilts or checking out their seemingly boundless supply of ideas.

“We’re here to help,” Zajicek said. “We have a wonderful staff, very knowledgeable, and they’re happy to help problem solve or plan projects with you.”
