Strong storms bring flooding concerns

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) The Weather Impact Scale sits at an "Orange, 2-Medium Impact" through Monday night. Additional shower and storm activity is expected with the main concern being a new round of flooding. A few storms could be strong with some gusty winds and small hail.

Much of southern Wisconsin has picked up 1-3 inches of rainfall since Sunday afternoon. An additional 1-3 inches of rainfall is possible by early Tuesday. The ground is saturated across much of the area and any additional rainfall will lead to flooding concerns.

As of early Monday evening, the Dane County Regional Airport set a new record for rainfall on October 1st. Coming in with a total of 1.54 inches, this makes 2018 the wettest start to October ever!

Additional rainfall is expected throughout the week which could bring more flooding concerns. River levels will also need to be watched as they will start to respond to recent rainfall later this week.
