A 23-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk when her SUV smashed into a Madison Metro bus late Tuesday night, injuring five people.

According to the Madison Police Department, Elicia B. Gonzalez was booked into the Dane County jail on a count of causing injury by drunken driving. Officers reportedly found two bottles of alcohol in her vehicle.

Investigators say Gonzalez ran a red light at the Odana Road and Gammon Road intersection and struck the bus so hard the collision knock it off the road and into a retaining wall. The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries, while the only passenger was not hurt.

Gonzalez and her three passengers, who were not identified, were all taken to the hospital for minor injuries, MPD’s incident report showed.

In addition to count for which she was arrested, Gonzalez was also cited for unreasonable and imprudent speed, red traffic signal violation, and operating after suspension.
