4 teens arrested for attempted theft, threatening homeowner

Five people were arrested for selling drugs and law enforcement is looking for two more. (MGN)

Madison police said four teenagers were taken into custody for attempting to steal from someone's car and threatening the owner with a knife.

Police said a homeowner on East Lakeside Street looked out of his house to see a teenager behind the wheel of his parked car on Tuesday night at 6:13 p.m.

When the man walked outside, he saw three more teenagers leaning into the driver's side window. He confronted the teens and asked them if they took anything.

According to police, the teens began moving away as the homeowner approached them. Three girls said nothing, but the boy pulled out what appeared to be a box cutter and pointed it at the man in a threatening way.

Meantime, neighbors who witnessed the confrontation called police. Officers found the teens walking on area railroad tracks and took them to the Juvenile Reception Center.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and party to the crime attempt to commit theft from a vehicle. Two 15-year-old girls and one 16-year-old girl were arrested for party to a crime attempt to commit theft from a vehicle.
