Two minors injured in alcohol-related Columbia County crash

WYOCENA TOWNSHIP, Wis. (WMTV)--- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said two people were injured in an alcohol-related crash late Wednesday night on CTH P in Wyocena Township.

Sheriff Roger Brandner said 17-year-old Brady Alexander of Portage was driving a 2000 Buick Park Avenue eastbound on CTH P when he apparently lost control, went into a ditch, and hit a utility pole.

Four people, including Alexander, were in the car at the time. Two were injured and transported to area hospitals. One of them was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to UW Hospital.

Brandner said Alexander was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and for Knowingly Operating without a Valid Drivers License Causing Great Bodily Harm. Wintry road conditions at the time may also have been a factor in the crash.

All four occupants of the vehicle were underage, and believed to have been drinking. Sheriff Brandner reminded the public that prom and graduation party season is approaching, and authorities will be boosting their enforcement of underage drinking and impaired driving laws. The Sheriff's Office reminded everyone to not drink and drive.
