African American history challenge bowl
More than a dozen students put their brains to the test Saturday at the African American History Challenge Bowl to see how well they know black history.
The event was hosted for the 24th time by 100 Black Men of Madison. Middle school students competed in teams answering a variety of questions about African American history.
The moderator of the event, Enis Ragland, said it is important for students to understand all types of history.
“History is important to our past, present and future and understanding our history and being proud of our history is important to our kids. And to all kids.” Said Ragland.
The winners of the event will advance to the national conference in Hollywood, Florida this year.
