MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)-- The Madison Police Department says traffic was delayed along the Beltline Wednesday evening because officers were responding to a woman standing on the outside railing of a overpass.

As NBC15 News reported, the incident closed all westbound lanes of the Beltline at Seminole Highway just after 8 p.m. After about 30 minutes, the lanes reopened and the scene was clear.

Police say officers were able to make contact with the woman, on the Seminole Highway overpass, and safety secure the person into protective custody.

A report from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation originally said that the lanes were closed because of a "law enforcement incident."

Madison police said no other information is available at this time.
