MADISON, Wis.(WMTV) From 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at Capital Brewery, the Alzeimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin (ADAW) is hosting the “Cheers to You” anniversary party, commemorating 20 years of the Dane County Alzheimer’s Walk.

"What we want to do is give Dane County a huge hug. Welcome them, and thank them for all of the years that they have been fundraising and growing awareness in our community," said Melissa Theisen, the Development Director for the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance.

The Alzheimer's Walk happens every September. It is the largest fundraiser of the year for ADAW, which provided “close to” 25,000 points of service in 2017.

Theisen said over the past 20 years the walk has raised nearly $2 million dollars. The money raised is used to help local families with care for loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia.

"We try to help them through the question processes because we're the experts in this," said Theisen, "We want to help."

Wednesday night's event will feature pizza from Roman Candle Pizza as well as live music by The Beat Chefs and Derek Buckley Music. Purple attire is encouraged. People will have the opportunity to sign-up for this fall's Alzheimer's Walk.
