MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- After an exciting day of touring D.C.'s war memorials, a flight full of Wisconsin veterans returned safely home for a huge celebration.
Badger Honor Flight's 26th flight made the round-trip from Madison to D.C. and back Saturday, taking off early in the morning and touching down at Dane County Regional Airport at 9:15 PM.
TSA estimates four to five thousand people filled the first floor of the airport to sing, dance, wave flags and cheer as the veterans were escorted one-by-one down escalators and elevators from the terminal.
An affiliate of national Honor Flight Network, Badger Honor Flight gives veterans in or near Wisconsin a special opportunity to be honored for their service with a free trip to see the memorials built in their honor.
