Baraboo pop-up shops open for holiday shopping
In June, WMTV first shared about downtown Baraboo's pop-up shop initiative. It is an effort from the Baraboo Business Improvement District to encourage local entrepreneurs to launch their businesses and give shoppers some fresh options this holiday season.
Wolfgang Calnin with Urbanwood Studio was one of three businesses chosen.
"I'm out of my garage so my wife can park her car in there, now that its winter," said Calnin.
This summer, the application period opened for the pop-up shops. The shops opened at the beginning of October and will stay open until December 31.
Now, Todd Wickus with Just Imagine Toys and the Baraboo Business Improvement District describes the new options for customers.
"One has hand roasted coffee, one has beautiful unique woodwork and another one does some really fun decorative items for your home and such," said Wickus.
And Calnin says not only is it good to be out of the garage but it has been great for business.
"Yes, it's going a lot better than if I was just at home," said Calnin.
The three shops selected are receiving free rent for three months over the holiday season along with the chance to meet with industry professionals for advice.
