Body of man discovered by kayakers in Beaver Dam River identified

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A dead body discovered by two kayakers in the Beaver Dam River over the weekend has been identified.

Beaver Dam police identified 48-year-old George W. Stodola of Beaver Dam as the previously unidentified body.

Police also discovered an abandoned kayak in the same river which Stodola was found – though there is no concrete connection between him and the kayak at this time.

The kayakers discovered Stodola in the water near Cooper Street, north of Highway 151 last Saturday afternoon.

The circumstances of the death are unknown, and police and the medical examiner say they are still investigating.
