Bucky on Parade: Bidder shares cancer connection

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)-- There were 21 Bucky statues up for bidding at Saturday's live auction at the Kohl Center.

All auction proceeds will support the local nonprofits Garding Against Cancer and the Madison Area Sports Commission.

The highest bidders Saturday night not only got to take their 6-foot Bucky statues home; ten percent of the donation will go to the
charity of his or her choice.

Julie Grosse and her family bought 'Crazy Legs Bucky' for 36 thousand dollars because her husband passed away from cancer.

She chose to donate 10 percent to the Jason Grosse memorial fund - named in honor of her late husband. She said the memorial fund goes toward cancer research.

Eleven additional full-size Bucky statues were up for auction online.
