Cambridge kids hoping for cafeteria makeover

As our days become busier, it may be harder to sit down and have dinner with family. But there's a nationwide contest that's going on right now, that promotes cooking with family.

Two local second and third graders have made it to the top 25 finalists and they need your help to win.

Gordie and Sammy Grender entered The Ben's Beginners Contest through Uncle Ben’s. So, far they've made it to the top 25 finalists. If they make it to the top five finalist, they will win a $30,000 cafeteria makeover and $15,000 for their family. Their dad says this is a way to give back to their community and spend time with family.

“It's important for any family, just for the simple fact that it teaches you to work together and problem solve. When they're young, it gives them good math skills. It's just puts the family closer together and gives them more bonding time,” said Pete Grender, Sammy and Gordie’s dad.
