MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - An SUV driver just barely missed hitting a child who was crossing the street after exiting a school bus near Menomonie in Dunn County Thursday.
Dunn County Sheriff's Office shared a video on Facebook that shows the near-miss.
The video was captured from a semi truck that was driving behind the school bus the child exited from in Menomonie, Wis., about an hour east of Minneapolis.
The Sheriff's Office said the driver of the vehicle was later located and cited.
The Office said in the Facebook post, "Hopefully, this reminds everyone how poor driving decisions can turn deadly. Drive as if every child on the street were your own!"
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, drivers must stop 20 feet from school buses that have stopped and are flashing their warning lights. The fine for failing to do so is up to $300.
