MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Chuck Todd discusses the role Wisconsin will play in the 2020 presidential election and how frequently candidates will visit the state to campaign.
In a satellite interview with NBC15's Gabriella Rusk, Todd shared his thoughts on Bernie Sanders' visit to Madison on Friday.
"As the [field] gets smaller, Wisconsin will be seen as one of those potential showdown states between who the final two, three or four candidates," Todd said. "I actually think Wisconsin becomes extraordinarily important, we just don't know it yet."
Todd expects every democratic candidate to spend time in Wisconsin because of it's history of helping to decide presidential elections.
As for the President, Todd says he thinks Trump will make more stops to Wisconsin throughout the campaign.
"He has to double-down on his ability to carry these Midwestern states," he said.
On Sunday's Meet the Press, Chuck Todd will also discuss President Trump's border battle and how it will affect the 2020 election.
You can catch Meet the Press on Sunday at 10AM.
