Vine Street and North Street cleared for residents

As of 8:16 p.m. the Sun Prairie Police Department has cleared Vine Street and North Street for residents to return to their homes.

WE Energies is currently working on North Street, but has not cleared the area for residents to return.

7/11/18 3:30 p.m.

The Sun Prairie Police Department has released the following list of areas that are inaccessible as of 3:30 p.m. :

Main St between Jones and Market St

South St in its entirety

W Lane St in its entirety

E Lane St in its entirety

S Bristol St in its entirety

N Bristol St From Cliff St south

Angell St in its entirety

Columbus St from Main to Church

Church St in its entirety

Vine St is NOT clear yet; however they are working on it.

Sun Prairie Police said residents and businesses within those areas are to remain evacuated.

For residents that need access to their homes and apartments within these ares to retrieve medications or person can meet Police and Fire at the intersection of Church St and Angell St, by the city hall parking lot for an attempt to access their property.

Police cannot guarantee access, as it will depend on the condition of the building and gas present.

7/11/18 10:00a.m.

Residents are being allowed back in to several neighborhoods as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Sun Prairie Police Department.

Residents can return to the following areas:

-Flint St., Union St., Jones St., North St., Kroncke Dr.

-Linnerud Dr. east of Market St., Cannery Square, Cannery Place, and Main St. east of Market St.

-Chase Blvd, Dewey St. and Hill St.

According to the Sun Prairie Police Department, the Madison Fire Department’s Heavy Urban Rescue Team (HURT) is currently in the process of going through the area of the damaged buildings to do a more extensive secondary search for any possible victims.

HURT will also be evaluating the structural integrity of the damaged buildings.
