A committee meeting at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections dealing with inmate and youth deaths was met with protestors Thursday.
Former inmates and prisoner activists are concerned about future deaths and practices of the DOC that they believe will lead to them.
In regards to the concerns of the protestors, they demanded of the committee that the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility be shut down. It was said that this is a facility that has had 17 deaths since it was built in 2001.
Other demands of the protestors include improved medical treatment and release of parole-eligible as well as aging prisoners.
