Dane County grant available to repair parks, trails damaged by flooding

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Communities affected by flooding can now apply for Dane County’s $1 million Park and Trail grant.

The country created the fund to help communities rebuild their parks and trails after destructive floods, especially flooding in August and September 2019.

Grant submissions are due July 31 and must include: a description of damage, a map, a plan for repairs and a proposed budget.

Dane County says priority will be given to projects identified in the Dane County Parks and Open Space Plan, or have previously received financial assistance from the county.

To apply, email the county at Rigelman@countyofdane.com or call (608) 224-3611.

“Our Dane County parks and trails are essential for maintaining a good quality of life,” said Dane County Executive Joe Parisi in a statement. “This grant will help ensure the outdoor recreation destinations Dane County residents visited before last year’s flooding can be restored for continued safety and enjoyment.”
