Deerfield woman arrested and jailed on road rage charges

TOWN OF COTTAGE GROVE/DEERFIELD, Wis. (WMTV)-- Dane County Sheriff's deputies arrested and jailed a 21-year-old Deerfield woman who forced another driver off the road in a road rage incident in the Town of Cottage Grove.

Dane County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Elise Schaffer said a 51-year-old woman called authorities Saturday around 6:30 in the evening, saying a woman had forced her off the road on CTH N near Nora Road in the Town of Cottage Grove.

The woman said the driver of the black Dodge Durango was aggressively tailgating her, passed her and slammed on the brakes, then starting aggressively tailgating her again.

Schaffer said, deputies tracked down the Durango and 21-year-old Corissa L. Waite of Deerfield, who admitted to deputies she was trying to scare the other driver with her aggressive driving.

The deputies also noticed Waite had a handgun near the driver's seat--something she had not disclosed to deputies.

Schaffer said they took Waite to jail, and she's now facing tentative charges of Disorderly Conduct and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Deputies also cited her for Operating after Revocation, Reckless Driving, and not having proof of insurance.
