MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) --- The dog's owner took the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for a swim near the Memorial Union Terrace Sunday afternoon.

Shortly after the dog began vomiting and foaming at the mouth. The dog was rushed to the UW-Veterinary Hospital and later died.

Clean Lakes Alliance and Dane County Health are still trying to determine if something in the lake caused the dog's death.

According to the owner, the dog was three years old and perfectly healthy.

"For this to happen I can't even understand it right now that she's gone. It's the worst thing in the world right now," said Lindsey Holmes.

Lindsey says while at the vet another dog came in with the same symptoms also after swimming in the lake.
