Dog killed, another injured in shooting

DANE COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Madison Area Crime Stoppers are asking members of the community for information regarding the shooting death of one dog and injury of another on November 24.

The Madison Area Crime Stoppers shared a Facebook post by the owner of the two dogs on Friday afternoon.

A Leonberger and German Shepard mix named Diesel and a puppy named Mack were shot by an unknown person, according to the post. Diesel was killed while Mack suffered a bullet hole in his leg, resulting in the leg being amputated.

Mack was able to return to his owner, where veterinarians were able to save him. Mack now has three legs, according to the post.

The owner of the dogs alleges they know of the person who shot the dogs discussed the shooting while in bars in Blanchardville, according to the post.

The post does not detail if the dogs were on a leash or on their own at the time of the shooting.

The Madison Area Crime Stoppers ask anyone with information on the incident to contact the Dane County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers.
