MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A section of a Madison road is closed Monday morning after a car crashed into a utility pole.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office said just after midnight, a deputy attempted to stop an SUV on Fair Oaks Avenue. Instead of stopping, the driver drove away, but ended up crashing his vehicle into a utility pole.
The crash snapped the pole in half, exposing live wires. Officials have closed Fair Oaks Avenue between Chicago and Webb Avenues Monday morning to repair the pole. The road will be closed until at least 7 a.m.
The driver of the SUV also ran away from the scene and has not been found. Anyone with information should contact the Dane County Sheriff's Office through the non-emergency dispatch number.
